Use AI Clearly: start with the task, not the tool
Suppose a vendor has sent pricing for an AI assistant that drafts customer replies, and the question on the table is whether to adopt it. Underneath sit harder questions: what exactly would the team hand over, how much would it be allowed to decide alone, and how would anyone know if it was wrong?
Put the task before the vendor
Use AI Clearly starts with those questions. It is a task-first guidance site, owned and operated by VMCSoft Digital, for teams putting AI into real work without a dedicated governance function. It asks whether AI should influence the task at all, whether ordinary software would do, which pattern is the least complex that fits, what data is safe to use, how much autonomy is acceptable, and what evidence would show the result is good. Vendor choice comes after those answers.
The Learn, Decide, Workflows and Verify sections carry that sequence in prose, and two browser-local tools make it concrete. The AI Task Fit Check takes categorical answers about a task and returns a disposition, an autonomy ceiling and the controls required before use. The Output Verification Builder turns task requirements into a review plan: what to check, how much to sample, who must sign off, and when to stop.
What the tools do not do
Both tools are deterministic. They apply published rules in a fixed order and run in your browser. They do not call a generative model, read your actual task text or workflow, rank vendors, or inspect a real output. The Output Verification Builder produces a plan for reviewing work. It does not evaluate the work or certify that it is correct. Exclusions and autonomy limits take precedence over any benefit score, so a high-value task cannot argue its way past a boundary. The methodology documents the rules and their versions.
The site does not offer legal, medical, financial, employment or safety advice, and it makes no guarantees about outcomes in your environment.
An honest label on the review status
Use AI Clearly is in public beta. VMCSoft Digital has reviewed the content, methodology and tool behavior as owner, and the editorial review page says plainly that owner approval is not independent review. Independent domain review and moderated target-user validation have not been completed.
Within the portfolio, Use AI Clearly plays the role ClueDNS plays for DNS: understand the decision before committing to a change. For the assistant above, run the reply-drafting task through the fit check and write down the disposition, the autonomy ceiling and the evidence that would count. Those answers are what you take into the vendor evaluation.
